Poker is a game with a high variance. This means that in
the short term anything can happen and even good players can experience
stretches of bad luck where they are losing chips. Even so, bad players generally lose
chips at a faster
rate than good players and good players generally win chips more
consistently than bad players. That said, let's look at what you can
determine from your opponents graphs.
The first thing to look for in the graphs is the general
trend of the chart. You want to find players that bleed chips over time and
that means looking for charts with a general downtrend. You also want
to avoid players that have a long uptrend since those players will be
competing against you for the bad player chips.
Keep an eye out for players who are experiencing very
quick upswings or downswings. Review the players starting hands and adjust
your play accordingly. You will often find bad players who experience a
quick upswing are going to stick around until they give most, if not all, of
their winnings back. If you see a player on a big downswing, review the
players starting hands and determine if he is on tilt. More often then not,
the player will be on tilt rather than simply being unlucky. Players on
tilt, often stick around bleeding chips away until they go all in. Those are
chips just waiting to go into your pockets.
